i'm baaaccckkkk...

OK...well I have run 2-days this week...and it feels good.

Tuesday night lauren and i did a 6-mile run...we walked a little, since neither of us had ran in about a week.
BUT...thats not the end of the story...as you know, lauren and i can be a little crazy...to say the least, this run took place from 9.15pm to 10.30pm...

Yesterday, Jeff and I went for about a 5-6 mile run...it felt good...

TWO days in a row for me...WooHoo!!

We are planning in getting a LONG bike ride in this week...lauren and i are going to try to do a ride from Milford to Norwalk...then maybe do a run directly afterwards...kind of a try run...

Has anyone practiced transitions at all? I am not so worried about them, although, they are important!
Let me know...

32 days and counting!!!!!!

Danielle's Memphis Tri Results

Hey guys-
This is Ryan, just wanted to share some news from Danielle that I go this morning. This weekend(or last) she competed in the Memphis Tri and did amazingly well! Her goal was 3 hours, and she finished the swim in 30 minutes, averaged 20 mph over the bike leg, and then suffered (according to her) home on the run in slightly less than 10 min/mile. Overall, i believe her time was right at 2:50.

She's been training a lot so i'm not sure that it's representative of where I'll be, but it's encouraging and inspiring to see someone do so well!

Congrats Danielle!
Ryan
She also finished grad school and decided to move to San Fran for work. Not a bad few weeks...

Can I have some motivation too?!?!

Hey Guys...
Well, i haven't been so good myself...i haven't worked out in 9 days!!!
I feel like a slacker...maybe becasue I am.

The next few weeks I am back in it hardcore. With Lauren done with school and exams, although she is studying for the bar, i think we will be able to get together to work out more often now...at least I hope so, because she is the one who pushes me.

Not much else to share with everyone...

See you in Philly in 5 weeks...WOW!!!!
I CANNOT wait for this guys....its going to be great :)

Ryan checking in for some motivation

Well ladies-
I have been conspicuously absent during the past month, likely due to the fact that I haven't been training enough to contribute to the blog. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I've been struggling with the motivation aspect of training. I’ve been much better the past week and a half and have actually worked out 10 days in a row! (I’ll gloss over the three weeks(or months) before that in which I did absolutely nothing) I’m currently on the you’re-a-slacker-who-needs-to-kick-his-ass-into-gear-so-you’re-not-embarrassed-on-race-day plan. By the way, there’s a patent pending on that plan, and I have it. It’s my new investment strategy...

I did join a gym last week, in order to swim, and I’ve been swimming four times since. I swam 2 miles Saturday, and I can't believe how slow I am. I was definitely taking break between sets of 8-20 laps and I finished in about 1:20. That's pretty far off my goals for the race, which is to complete the swim in 30 minutes (Cozz and Sarah, please don’t laugh…)

Yesterday I went for a long bike ride, just over 40 miles in all. I did the first 16 at a 20.5 mph average, then did about 8 miles of hills, and then did the last 16 at 19.8 mph. I was definitely hoping to do the last bit a bit faster, especially since it’s a bit more downhill than the other direction. I tried doing the ‘brick’ workout, got a mile into the run and quit. I decided to go lay by the pool instead. Biking has been the most enjoyable for me, and now that I installed a new computer on my bike that has cadence as well, I’m able to make it more of a workout by keeping track of how much effort I’m putting into it.

Running- Well, running has been the hardest to do, and I’m not sure why. My knee is hurting recently, and so pounding away at it doesn’t seem like the ideal way to rehab it. Oh well.

I’ve decided that Philly will be a warm-up of sorts, and that I’ll try to do 2-3 more triathlons later this summer out here. That way I’m not stressing because of my lack of training so far. That’s all for now, but I will say I had a great time reading all your posts and keeping up with how your training is going. Keep on keepin’ on.

Take care, and see you in Philly in 4 weeks!

Getting Easier...

Hey Guys!!
Well, this weekend I did a 50K bike for MS on Marthas Vineyard. It felt GREAT!! When I was done, I felt good, not too tired. Could have went for a run. I feel more confident now and am psyched about that.

BUT...now my bike is in the shop for a tune-up...won't get it back until next week.

I went for a run yestersday...about 4 miles. My legs were actually a little tired from the bike, but I pushed myself through the run, and it felt good.

Lauren...you will not forget how to run. I personally think it is actually good to have a little break. I didn't run for about a week, and then when I did run, I felt awesome...like I could go forever...so dont stress!!

thats it for now...

The worst week ever

This is my worst week ever since i actually started training. I ran 5 miles on tuesday and I walked 5 miles with my mom this morning and that's all i've been able to squeeze in during exams. Right now I'm in the library 14 hours a day working on my last law school exam ever. I'm done at 3pm on tuesday and the first thing i'm going to do is go for a long run! Then, I might have to hit the bar to celebrate :) I'm really worried that when I go back to running next week that I won't know how or that i'll have lost everything and not be able to finish the triathlon. Hopefully that won't happen and hopefully my next blog will be saying that i'm back in the groove and that i feel great.
Here's to hoping..........

Back to my exam,
Lauren

Back on Track...

WooHoo...Sarah is back on track...sorta!

Tuesday I did a 6-mile run and it felt great.
Wednesday morning I got up and went swimming...I miss it so much...did 2000 meters in about 40 minutes.
The pool is back to meters, so I am swimming in a 50 meter pool.
Started off with 500 swim, 500 kick, 500 pull
6X50 on 1 minute (1,3, free/2,5,6 fly/4 back).
200 warmdown

I would have swam longer, but that whole work thing got in the way.

This weekend I will be in Marthas Vineyard doing the MS bike tour...50K...so that will be my bike for the week.
I know that I should be doing more than this at this point...I am trying...just tired...

Well...back to work....

Flying Solo

Sarah's slumpa-a-roo and move out has left my flying solo all week. .... and it's horrible. Today I swam 3000 yards which is a solid workout. However, I was so bored I nearly died. Vikki's has already moved out, Sarah's super busy this week with moving and "social engagements" and Ben is in Kentucky for the Derby. So, i'm whining. Tomorrow I want to ride 25 miles. Saturday the plan is to run 6. Sunday is the Mother's day 5k.

I did my first real "brick" workout this week. It was short but went much better than I thought it would. I biked 10 miles at race pace and then put my sneakers on and ran 3 miles at a 9:45 pace. Afterwards, I really didn't feel that tired and I felt comfortable on the run. In the next few weeks, I'm going to try to incorporate more bricks and build the distances on them. The race is a 25mi. bike and a 6.2mi. run. I want to have done the entire length of the bike and run back to back at least once before the race.

That's all for now, I'm in the library procrastinating by writing this blog. I've got a week and a half left of law school and I'm really digging deep to find a few last ounces of motivation to pass my exams with.

Pretty soon I'm going to start talking to my water bottle for lack of better company. wow, i can't believe I just wrote that. Time for me to get back to work!

can we say....SLUMP?!?!

Hey there everyone...
well, i have been in a bit of a slump this week.
I was in HOT-LANTA visiting Mary....to say the least I did mostly "arm curls" all weekend.
We did run a few miles on Friday, but the heat and the pollution really got to me...it makes a huge difference.

This week is pretty much shot for me as well...I had to..sniff...sniff...move out of the cottage...sniff...sniff...
So i have been moving all my stuff out. The tonight is CINCO DA MAYO, so a celebration is a must...

Thought i would be truthful and let everyonw know that i have been a slacker...

Next week I will be picking it up and no screwing around till after the tri....

Signing off

Seven Weeks to GO!

Well,
This week was my best week yet. I finally got in the water and swam.... only 2000 yards because I was short on time, but it felt good to swim. Afterwards I was so beat and so sore it was ridiculous. From now on, I'm going to make sure I get in the water twice a week so I don't end up being dead after the easiest part of the race. On the running front, I hit 7 miles for the first time. Sarah was away for the weekend visiting Mary in Hot-Lanta so Jeff joined me for a long run in the rain.

This week, I want to do an 8 mile run and a "brick" of something like a 20mi. bike followed immediately by a 4mi. run. I can't believe there are only 7 weeks to go. The running is definately getting easier and I'm getting a little faster. I'm running a 5K on Sunday the 8th with my mom and sarah and hopefully my time will be respectable. I'm hoping I can run 8:30 minute miles but we'll see. I'm still sooooooo slow!

That's all for now, I'm about start my second to last law school class ever.
Cozz

p.s. I haven't heard from anyone in a while.... how's your training going?
